ECSTASY DANCER
16x24" | Oil on Canvas
this work had two inspirations: 1) an evening at the ballet choreographed by George Balanchine. 2) the three sisters of Fatima, Portugal, who in 1917 would fall into ecstasy after seeing and hearing messages from the Virgin Mary
There once was a funny young dancer
who was kind of a lopsided prancer
she had one big leg
the other a peg
both the result of a cancer
This big legged woman at Delta
ate fish by the name of Gefvelta
I know it's absurd
she stank like a turd
her breath was aflame and would melt ya
But big-leg ballerina was a painting
and her charm, John the bastard, was tainting
his remarks were untrue
she's cute, pink, and blue
except when she's pastey from fainting
